Rules & Regulations

 

For the benefit of all members and guests, the following rules and regulations govern the use of the facilities at Gorham Country Club. These rules are subject to change at any time and without prior notice.

General

  • The hours of operation at Gorham Country Club will be established considering the season of year and other circumstances. The hours of operation will be posted at the clubhouse.

  • All state and local laws concerning the sale of alcoholic beverages will be strictly enforced.

  • All food and beverage consumed on the premises must be furnished by Gorham Country Club, unless otherwise permitted by management.

  • The clubhouse at Gorham Country Club is a smoke-free environment.


Course Rules

  • It is recommended that all players call the pro shop to reserve tee times. Public tee times may be made up to five days in advance.  Member tee times may be made up to seven days in advance.  Tee times must be cancelled 24 hours in advance. Failure to cancel unused tee times may result in a no-show fee.

  • All players must register at the pro shop.  All fees must be paid in advance.  Players must start play from either the first or tenth tees as directed by pro shop personnel. “Cutting-in” and starting on any other hole is not permitted. Failure to check in and register ten minutes prior to a reserved starting time may result in cancellation or setback.

  • A receipt for greens fees, cart, range or other purchase or service is required and must be available upon request.

  • Each player must have their own set of clubs.

  • Golf marshals may be on duty to help regulate play and enforce golf cart regulations. Your cooperation is appreciated. Eighteen hole rounds should be completed in four hours and fifteen minutes. Nine hole rounds should be completed in two hours.

  • No more than four players are permitted in a group unless authorized by the pro shop . Singles & twosomes will be paired together when tee times are limited.

  • Spectators are at the discretion of the golf shop and must adhere to the dress code and policies and procedures that govern golfers. Spectators who are riding in a golf cart will be charged a cart fee.

  • Rain checks will be determined by the amount of holes played. Rain checks will not be issued to players who tee off in inclement weather.
     

Dress Code

  • Shirts must be worn at all times. Cut-Offs, tank tops, tube tops, bathing suits or jean shorts are not allowed.

  • Metal Spikes are not allowed.

 

Golf Cart Rules

  • Golf carts shall not be used without proper assignment and registration in the Golf Shop.

  • Each operator of a golf cart must be 18 years of age or older and have a valid drivers license.

  • Only two people and two sets of clubs are permitted per cart.

  • Operation of a golf cart is at the risk of the operator. The operator will be held fully responsible for any and all damages resulting from misuse.

  • Except on cart paths, do not drive a golf cart within thirty feet of a green, tee or bunker.

  • Violations of golf cart rules may result in loss of cart and/ or playing privileges.
     

Course Etiquette
Each player is expected to observe the rules and etiquette of golf while on the course. These are listed in the USGA Rules Of Golf. Please show consideration to your fellow golfers while playing at Gorham Country Club

  • All players should conduct themselves in a disciplined manner, demonstrating courtesy and sportsmanship at all times. This is the spirit of the game of golf.

  • Players should not play until the players in front are out of range.

  • Players should play at a good pace. It is a group’s responsibility to keep up with the group in front. If it loses its position by a hole and is delaying the group behind, please invite the group behind to play through.  This includes singles, twosomes & foursomes.

  • Eighteen hole rounds should be completed in four hours and fifteen minutes. Nine hole rounds should be completed in two hours.

  • When entering and leaving bunkers, avoid climbing the steepest parts of the bunker. Before leaving a bunker, a player should carefully fill up and smooth over all holes & footprints. The rake should be left in the bunker.

  • Players should repair ball marks and replace divots.
